The crimson-clad members of More Than Mozart, a new community service club at Ardsley High School, held their inaugural concert on May 18 at the Ardsley Community Center, performing classical, rock, and pop music and raising $375 for Brighter Futures Summer Camp, a program for disadvantaged children in Westchester.
“We use music to engage with our community,” club president Elizabeth Chun said.
Though Chun first garnered support for More Than Mozart last spring, the sophomore’s inspiration for a music outreach club predates her high school career. Chun started to study piano at age 5, took up the violin in third grade, and now attends the Manhattan School of Music’s Precollege Program, a pre-conservatory training program for talented youth. She is a member of the program’s symphony orchestra and piano trio, as well as the chamber orchestra at Ardsley High School.
