COVID-19 Fundraiser – NOW CLOSED

Hi everyone!

We hope you’re staying healthy and well.

Around a week ago, we closed our fundraiser, COVID-19 Relief for Westchester NY Workers in Need, and distributed our funds to three local workers. Two are full-time servers at a local restaurant, and one is a full-time worker at a Dollar Store who lost her job due to the pandemic and has three children, all of whom lost their part-time jobs as well.

To this end, we want to thank you all for your support of our cause. With your help, we raised $2,700. We know this is a difficult, uncertain time for everyone, and we are grateful for your aid in lending a hand to our local workers.

Witnessing community members come together to support one another has been our greatest comfort over the course of the past few months. We hope you stay healthy and well, and we look forward to being able to perform for you in person in the future.

Hi everyone,

We hope you are all staying healthy and well.

We are writing to let you know that we have officially closed our fundraiser! Together, we have raised $2,700, and we cannot thank you enough for your support of our cause. This has truly been a group effort. Bearing witness to it has given us hope that, as a community, we can continue to lift one another up during this difficult, uncertain time.

100% of our funds will be given to three hard-working local workers. Two are full-time servers at a local restaurant, and one is a mother, who has lost her full-time job at a Dollar Store, with three children, all of whom have lost their part-time jobs. Each worker will receive $900.

Yesterday, we delivered funds to our third recipient, the mother who worked at a Dollar Store, in the form of Visa gift cards. Today, we will be delivering funds to our first two recipients, the servers at a local restaurant, in the form of checks. We will be posting this information on our website shortly as well.

To thank you for your support, we are sharing one final performance. We hope you enjoy Stand By Me by Ben E. King, performed here by Aaron ’21, Alicia ’23, Claire ’22, Elizabeth ’21, Evelyn ’21, Grace ’22, Jack ’21, Joyce ’22, and Kyan ’23. We will be continuing to post a few more performances on our YouTube channel and Instagram over the summer as well.

Thank you once again for your donations and support. We hope that you have a healthy, safe, relaxing summer, and we look forward to being able to connect with you soon in person.

Sincerely,

More Than Mozart

Additionally, if you know any local workers being affected by COVID-19, please reach out to us at morethanmozart.ahs@gmail.com. We want to hear their story and help them to the best of our ability.

Hi everyone,

We hope you are well during these uncertain times.

Our club members are busy learning the songs you have requested, but in the meantime we’ve created a special video for you. As we celebrate nearly two years of More Than Mozart, we’re looking back on how our club has grown — but more importantly, we’re reflecting on where we are today, and what this fundraiser means to us; why we do what we do, how we’ve put this fundraiser together, what we hope to accomplish.

We are so grateful for your support, and hope you enjoy this video. We all need a reason to smile these days! Please share our fundraiser with anyone who might want to donate, and feel free to share our video as well!

As we proceed with our fundraiser, we will keep you updated. In the meantime, please stay healthy and safe.

Best,
More Than Mozart

Hi everyone!

Hope you are healthy and well. Today is #GivingTuesday — a day of global generosity, a day when we put others first. In light of the current situation, it is also a day for us to come together to help meet the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

In honor of Giving Tuesday, we are doing an #Unselfie video challenge! To participate, film a 10-30 second video talking about someone, something, or a cause in this world that matters to you. We want to know why this matters to you, or what you do to support it. Please email your videos to morethanmozart.ahs@gmail.com. At the end of the week, we will type up your responses and share them with you all, anonymously.

This is a quick, easy, fun way for us to inspire and lift up one another during this unprecedented time. AND, **FOR EVERY VIDEO WE RECEIVE, MORE THAN MOZART WILL DONATE $1 TO OUR FUNDRAISER!!!**

We encourage you to participate, and to share our #GivingTuesday challenge with family and friends who might want to participate as well! Please remind them to email their videos to morethanmozart.ahs@gmail.com. We look forward to receiving your submissions, and we hope you are all staying safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

More Than Mozart

Hi everyone!

Hope you are all staying healthy and safe.

Seeing that we have raised $100 more since our last update, we wanted to thank you for your donations with another performance video! Today we are sharing a pre-quarantine performance of Sarasate’s Navarra, performed by Yu-Chen ’21 and Elizabeth ’21. We hope you enjoy!

Right now, our club members are busy learning music that you all have requested! We are excited to bring more music your way in the days to come. If you would like to request a piece for us to perform, please send your requests to morethanmozart.ahs@gmail.com.

In the meantime, please continue to share our fundraiser with family and friends who might be interested in donating as well. We are less than $300 from our goal and by simply sharing the fundraiser with a few people, you can help us get there!

Thank you for your support of our cause, and we hope you stay well.

Sincerely,

More Than Mozart

Hi everyone,

Thank you all for your donations! We have raised another $100 since our last update, so here is another performance! Please enjoy Gershwin’s Prelude No. 2, “Blue Lullaby,” performed by Aaron ’21.

We’ve gotten many song requests in the past few days, so our musicians are hard at work learning your requests! Please continue to share this fundraiser with family or friends who might be interested in donating, as we post a performance every time we raise another $100.

Today, we’d also like to share the story of two more workers who are potential recipients of our funds. Moe and Cassie are full-time bartenders and servers at the Saw Mill Tavern right here in Ardsley. Those who frequent SMT know Moe as the “bar mom” and Cassie as her “bar daughter.” Due to the COVID-19 crisis, both Moe and Cassie are struggling financially. Moe lives on her own and needs to pay for rent, phone bills, car insurance, etc. Cassie is currently staying with her mom. On top of their financial difficulties, losing family and friends to the virus has had a mental and emotional toll on Moe and Cassie.

In their 3-4 years employed at SMT, Moe and Cassie have attended countless birthdays, graduations, bar/bat mitzvahs, and more; the Ardsley community has become family to them. Now, Moe and Cassie are relying on this community for support. It’s to support Moe, Cassie, and others in need that we started this fundraiser, and we hope that you can help us by donating and spreading our message.

Thank you, and stay healthy!

Sincerely,
More Than Mozart

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for your donations! We are now at $1,910 of our $2,500 goal. Seeing that we’ve raised $100 more since our last update, we are posting another performance! This time, we bring you not only music, but a dance. We hope you enjoy this improv dance to Moral of the Story, performed by Gracie ’21 (dance) and Elizabeth ’21 (voice & piano).

And, we have more good news! Last Friday, The Rivertowns Enterprise published an article about our fundraiser! We’re so grateful that our message could be shared with a greater audience and hope to bring awareness to the impact of COVID-19 on so many locally. You can check out the article here!

As always, if you know others who might be interested in donating, please share the link to this GoFundMe with them. **If we raise just $100 more, we’ll post another performance!! Have a song request? Send it to us at morethanmozart.ahs@gmail.com and we’ll post a video right here on this GoFundMe! We accept music of any genre or instrumentation 🙂 **

Thank you, and we hope you all stay healthy and safe!

Sincerely,
More Than Mozart

Hi everyone,

Thank you for helping us raise $1,605! Seeing that we have raised $100 since our last update, we are posting another performance. Please enjoy “One Summer’s Day” from Spirited Away, performed by Yu-Chen ’21! (P.S. We hope you’ve been enjoying these past few split-screen performances — we are making social distancing work!)

If you know family or friends who might be interested in donating as well, please share the link to this GoFundMe with them. If we raise just $100 more, we will post another performance! Also, we are accepting song requests! If you have a piece in mind that you’d like us to perform, send us your requests by emailing morethanmozart.ahs@gmail.com. We can play any genre and instrumentation, and we’ll post our performances of your requests right here on this GoFundMe.

Finally, we hope you are all staying healthy and well. We know this is a difficult time for everyone — and so, we’re especially grateful for your support of our cause. We’d like to leave you today with this quote: “Always remember that your present situation is not your final destination. The best is yet to come.”

Sincerely,
More Than Mozart
